Terms & Conditions
The Schools Water Efficiency Program (SWEP) has been established to ensure that schools are able to quickly identify leaks within their boundaries and act upon them in a timely manner, and to use this information as a teaching tool. The content below details your commitments and expectations as a participant in this program.
As a participant you will receive:
- Up to two Data Loggers will be installed at your site either to your water corporation meters (as identified by your water corporation) or to a suitably significant water supply e.g. rain water tank. Additional data loggers are available at a fee of $800.00 (plus GST)
- The first year of Data Logger communications (valued at up to $350) will be provided at no cost to the school
- Access will be provided to a purpose built curriculum resource free of charge
- The supply and installation of a vandal guard where necessary
- Relevant training for teachers and facilities staff which includes access to and analysis of your school's water consumption data in comparison to benchmarks and other local schools
- A guarantee that any defects or functional issues with the data logger be rectified within 15 business days or by negotiation
- School water consumption will be treated in accordance with the national privacy principles, excepting access to your specific data being made to your local water authority, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and the Department of Education and Training
As a participant you will commit to:
- Subject to availability the school will grant access to the program's service provider for the purposes of installing the data logger. Loggers must be installed by our service providers to ensure that the product is in good order and working correctly
- Use the website and curriculum resource as a part of classroom activities either independently or as outlined in other relevant water education programs
- Connect to the SWEP platform for a total period of three years during which time the school will be required to contribute toward the second and third years of web communications
- Pay upon receipt of invoice from the project managers the annual web communications fee ($150.00 plus GST) for years two and three of the program. This will ensure the school continues to have access to the website and receives daily data files
- The school will act upon any leaks found within its boundaries within 30 days. This may be done in consultation with the schools local water corporation and or the Department of Education and Training or the schools governing body
- Upon installation of the data logger ownership will be transferred to the school (excluding the water meter), however should the contract and maintenance services not be maintained to the conclusion of the three year contract, ownership of the data logger will be transferred back to SWEP
- Any damage negligent or otherwise caused to the data logger within the terms of this agreement will be paid for by the school
